Draught Tests
- Beginners, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 4

24 January 2026
Whitemead Caravan Park, Parkend, Lydney, Gloucstershire, GL15 4LA
Hosted by Welsh Newfoundland Activity Group

Thank you to everyone who supported our test weekend; hope you all enjoyed our small test. A special thanks to Whitemead Forest Park for allowing us to use their beautiful holiday park in the Forest of Dean. This venue offers flat control areas, interesting manoeuvring trails and some wonderful haul opportunities at all Levels.

It is a shame that draught work seems to be the ‘poor relation’ in the south west; it's great fun and the dogs love carting, it gives them and their handler valuable 'together' time as they learn to work as a team.

Well done to those who passed this weekend, reading the judges score sheets, those that didn't are very nearly there.

A small entry of just two today. Two very different dogs, but two very nice passes, well done. Thank you to the weather and storm 'Ingrid' for not raining during the test.

Thank you to SNC for inviting us, WNAG for hosting the event. Also huge thanks to our call steward today.

Firstly, I would like to thank WNAG and the SNC for the invite to judge at these tests at Whitemead Forest Park, in the Forest of Dean. What can I say but WOW! What a lovely venue and everyone interested in working their dogs should attend this event at least once!

Today we had almost ideal weather conditions for the dogs, a bit muddy underfoot, but what can you expect for January, but dry and cool.

In Level 2 we had two entries with one, almost faultless pass. This team really know how to work together to pull off a lovely result and a joy to watch and judge.

Unfortunately, the second team, despite a very good test up until the down stay, with plenty of distractions from both other dogs and children, found the distractions on this element just one too many and left the ring. All I can say is well done on everything you achieved up to that point and I'm sure you'll get there soon.

Jackie Bagnall

We had two entries for Level 2 today at Whitemead. Both dogs worked well in the control section but unfortunately only one team progressed to the manoeuvring and haul. They achieved a very nice pass after a haul through this lovely venue.

Thanks to the test manager, our haul and call stewards and to WNAG for hosting this test.

Level 4

Judges: Jeff Burridge & Steve Pallot
Entrants: 2 | Passes: 0

Thank you SNC for asking us to judge at this test and to WNAG for hosting.

We had two entries, both of whom were experienced teams, but unfortunately both dogs left the ring, resulting in failure. Better luck next time.
