Water Tests - All Levels (Sections A to E)

Where are all the puppies .... ?

The first of three Water Tests being hosted at Grangewaters this year, with a reasonable though not an exceptional number of entries. On this occasion I felt it was sensible to utilise only one swim each day.

With 22 entries to test on the Saturday, and 15 to test on the Sunday.

  • At section E - we had 4 entries, no passes on this occasion.
  • At section D - we had 7 entries, with 2 passes.
  • At section C - we had 9 entries, with 2 passes.
  • At section B - we had 8 entries, with 3 passes
  • At section A - we had 9 entries, with 7 passes.

Only 17 entries at the lower sections A and B, and only one dog aged less than 1 year amongst them.

We welcomed guests from NewForest, Terranova, WNAG, Midlands, and SEWN several of whom enjoyed the comfort of our Luxury Lakeside Lodges for the weekend, they were all put to good use with plenty of stewarding duties. Many thanks for all of your help.

Conditions across the weekend were variable, Saturday being showery and breezy, helms and boat crews had to earn their corn. Conditions were much improved on Sunday.

To our Judges, the stewards, and our "strangers", our entrants, and those guests who came along to observe, thank-you for your support over the weekend, and we hope to see you all again before long.

Both myself and Rob enjoyed judging A's at Grangewaters. We had nine entries with seven lovely passes (some faultless). Unfortunately, two were not quite there on this occasion.

We judged nine dogs today of which we had two passes. The main issue the dogs displayed was a reluctance to swim to the stranger, which should be overcome with more practice.

Section E

We had four entries for Section E this morning, unfortunately no dogs were successful in passing the whole test, but every dog did some excellent work. All dogs passed E2, but the other elements proved more problematic, especially E1 for some reason.

Thankyou Grangewaters for hosting the test this weekend, pleased to say the weather improved today

We had eight entries with three great passes. It was the combination of the underwater retrieve and the safe swim that proved to be the downfall of those that didn't make it today, with some practice we are sure that they will all get there soon.

The weather was dry and comfortably warm with minimal wind.

We had seven entries but only two nice passes. Those who did not pass just need a little more work to ensure success.
