President's Report

"I was very honoured to be asked to become President of The Southern Newfoundland Club and thank you for your faith in me by offering me this appointment.

Unfortunately I have not, so far, fulflled the position as I would have wished. This is due to somewhat difficult personal problems which have not, as I had hoped, improved.

The thing whch impresses me most about The Club is the enthusiasm of the whole membership. I have been a member of many organisations in my time but NEVER have I come across such wholehearted enthusiasm.

You are very fortunate with those at the helm of The Club viz Chairman and Secretary and it is heartwarming to see you all back them up with the desire to make the Southern Newfoundland Club a great success and working so hard toward this goal which you have already gone a long way to achieving. It is my belief you will be the envy of many societies if you continue in this vein.

Keep up the excellent work and I wish you all Health, Happiness and Success in the year ahead."

Chairman's Report

"In order for the club to be a "members club" it is vitally important for the Committee of The SNC to be made aware, by the members, of the direction in which they wish the club to be taken. The Committee have, therefore, agreed that, prior to the formal proceedings of the AGM, an informal discussion will take place, at which time the members can voice their views regarding the aforementioned. It is important that as many SNC members as possible attend in order to achieve this goal.

It goes without saying that a big thank you must go to the Officers and Committee members of SNC for all the hard work they have put into getting the club off the ground. However, I think the biggest thank you must go to you, the members, who have supported this venture in such a huge and positive way. Without you, we would not be in this enviable position today.

Never in my wildest dreams did I envisage such support and this showed in the great number of members that joined the club in 2008. The total was approaching 300."
