Draught Tests - All Levels: Beginners to Level 4

05 October 2017
St. Martin, Jersey, Channel Islands (Hosted by Friends Of Jersey Big Dog Club)

We tested 25 teams at all levels; Control & Manoeuvering Sections were held at The Activity Centre. Level 2 haul was held nearby on Ann Port Common and Level 3 Haul was held in St. Catherine's Wood.
Unfortunately none passed the control section for L4. It had been planned to carry out the L3 and L4 haul on the beach at La Rocque, but due to high winds it was cancelled. Apart from the high wins we had rain and overcast weather all day.
A big thank you to everyone that came over to support our event and thank you to everyone who judged, stewarded and helped on the day.

Thank you to The Friends Of Jersey Big Dog Club for hosting a great event. My second appointment and I enjoyed every minute.
Six great entries, a couple of ‘not quite’ passes and two Braces, a wonderful experience. The weather was mixed but dogs enjoyed it.

We tested nine dogs at this level. We had six nice passes and the three dogs that failed just need a little more work and training.
The tests were held in changeable weather, sunshine one minute then overcast and rain.
Amanda and I would like to thank the Friends of JBDC for running this event at the JAAC, which is an ideal venue. Our thanks to all the stewards and the SNC for asking us to judge.

Thursday brought us 4 seasons in one day!
Five dogs entered into Level 2, four made it through to the down stay, unfortunately only two made it through to the haul. However with practice they will crack the down stay.
The haul and control was fantastic in the late afternoon sun and the dogs and handlers worked fantastically together. Two lovely and well deserved passes were obtained. Well Done.

Only one team made it to the haul. A lovely control section was done and an excellent down stay. The haul was handled well, all I would say is be aware of the number of commands that are being given at this level.

The weather was good, not too hot and quite windy early on. We had three entries, two did not complete the control section as did not complete the back up.
The dog that passed the control section did an excellent down stay and a very good haul. Dog was a little reluctant to go down on the down stay in the haul, but once down, completed it well.
Thanks to the SNC and the Friends of the JBDC for running an excellent event.

Unfortunately it was not the teams day, the distraction of tractor and dog at JAAC during the control section was just too much for our entrant.
