This, our second Championship show was the last event of the year and a lovely entry of 99 dogs making 124 entries awaited our judges, Mr Roger Vincent – Dogs and Mrs Del Richards – Bitches. Judging started at 10am after a warm welcome announcement was made by the Chairman. In no time at all it was time to break for lunch. During the lunch time Miss Nicole Owles judged the junior handling classes and awarded Isabella Arkell with Best Junior Handler 6-11 years and Emily Daltrey Best Junior Handler 12-16 years. There was also a brown bag raffle which raised a substantial amount of money for welfare.

After lunch, judging resumed and all classes completed, the winners then competed for top honours. With the CC's awarded, our judges were undecided upon who should be awarded BIS. Referee, Mrs Jean Hammond was called upon and BIS was awarded to the Bitch CC winner – Angelides' Hilaiwana Cancrimo, with RBIS being awarded to the Reserve Bitch CC winner – Groves' Ch Bridgestone Grip It N’Rip It JW and BOS being awarded to the Dog CC winner – Land's Just For You Du Domaine De Flambeau. BPIS was Richardson's Gunnersnewfs Austrian Love. BV and Reserve Dog CC was Ch. Albanywater Sea Dancer at Davistell ShCM. Congratulations all and to the other winners.

Just before the end of the show and after the formal announcements and presentations, a gift of two bronze newfoundland statues was presented to Mr. Roger Vincent as this was his last judging appointment after deciding to retire.

As always there was a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout the day. A huge thank to the committee and helpers who worked so hard before and on the day. Thank you to the judges, to the ring stewards - Aaron Humphries, Suzanne Archer, Rosemary Dale and Di Vincent. Also to Paul Dodd who never fails to capture those memorable moments in and around the ring on camera. Finally the club sincerely thanks all who supported the show especially the exhibitors for their time to prepare their dogs and travel great distances to make this another successful event. We look forward to our next show in May 2018.
